Find answers to common Tracfone questions.

If your household is eligible, you can receive:

  • Up to a $30 per month discount on any monthly smartphone, hotspot or tablet plan
  • Up to a $75 per month discount for households on qualifying Tribal lands

A household is eligible if one member of the household meets at least one of the criteria below:

  • Household income is at or below 200% of the federal poverty guidelines;
  • Household participates in certain assistance programs, such as SNAP, Medicaid, Federal Public Housing Assistance, SSI, WIC, or Lifeline;
  • Household is located on qualifying Tribal lands and participates in Tribal specific programs, such as Bureau of Indian Affairs General Assistance, Tribal TANF, Tribal Head Start or the Food Distribution Program on Indian Reservations;
  • Household participates in the free and reduced-price school lunch program or the school breakfast program, including through the USDA Community Eligibility Provision in the current school year; or
  • Household member received a Federal Pell Grant during the current award year

A “household” is defined as any individual or group of individuals, related or unrelated, who live together at the same address and who contribute to and share the household income and expenses.

  • An adult is any person eighteen years or older.
  • If an adult has no or minimal income, and lives with someone who provides financial support to them, both people shall be considered part of the same household.
  • Children under the age of eighteen living with their parents or guardians are part of the same household as their parents or guardians

Your household is eligible for the ACP if your income is 200% or less than the Federal Poverty Guidelines (see the table below). The guidelines are based on your household size and state. This table reflects the income limit by household size, which is 200% of the 2022 Federal Poverty Guidelines. You may have to show proof of income, like a tax return or three consecutive pays stubs, when you apply for the ACP.

There are two steps to applying for an ACP discount on any monthly plan that contains data:

  1. Go to www.Tracfone.com/ACP and fill out the online application form to determine if you are eligible for the ACP discount.
  2. After you receive notice that you are qualified for the ACP discount, go to www.MyACPBenefit.com/TF, enter your information, and select your monthly plan.

The Federal Communnications Commission (FCC) has outsourced the ACP approvals to the Universal Service Administrative Company (USAC) which may ask you to send them official documents as proof that your household participates in one of the above government programs when you apply for the ACP discount. USAC's National Verifier will verify your identity and eligibility against available state, federal, and other electronic databases. If the National Verifier is not able to validate your eligibility with the available eligibility databases, applicants will need to provide proof of eligibility. You will be provided with instructions on what documentation is needed during the application process.

Universal Service Administrative Company's National Verifier determines your eligibility for the ACP discount and approval times usually take about two business days. Please contact the National Verifier at 1-877- 384-2575 if you have any questions concerning your ACP eligibility.

You will receive an email notification from Tracfone after your ACP application has been approved. You can then select the monthly plan where you want your ACP discount applied.

There are a number of reasons that you may have been denied. Please refer to the specific dial message on the email you received which should explain why the Universal Service Administrative Company denied your application and give you insturctions on how to re-apply.

If your houseshold received an email message that you have mismatched personal information, please return to www.MyACPBenefit.com/TF and correct the information entered. For more information on how to correct your information, please contact the Universal Service Administrative Company's National Verifier at 1-877-384-2575.

If your houseshold received an email message that you have an error on your ACP application, please return to www.MyACPBenefit.com/TF and correct the information entered.

After you have successfully applied, you can check the status of your application online by visiting www.MyACPBenefit.com/TF, click the "My Service" button, select "Account Detail" from the dropdown menu and enter your information to login and check enrollment status.

The ACP discount program is designed to lower the cost of a monthly plan for a smartphone, hotspot or tablet. If your monthly plan price is $30 or less per month ($75 for households on qualifying Tribal lands), you will receive up to a $30 discount each month ($75 for households on qualifying Tribal lands) and your monthly plan will be "free". If your monthly plan costs more than the discount provided by the ACP benefit, you can simply call us to pay the difference between the plan's retail price and the ACP discount. For example, if you select a $45/month plan and you receive a $30/month ACP discount, you would only pay $15/month (plus the appropriate taxes, fees, and surcharges) for the plan.

No problem! Just let us know your new address. You can change your address without reapplying if you move to an address in the same state. If you move to a different state, may need to complete a new application. To update your address, you will need to speak with an Enrollment Support agent at 1-833-333-9227.

Yes, there are a few simple restrictions. Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP) is a federal program only available to households that participate in a qualifying government program or who are eligible based on their household's income. Only one discount per household is allowed. A household is not permitted to receive more than one ACP discount. A household receiving an ACP discount can transfer that benefit to another provider no more that one time in a given month. ACP discounts may not be transferred to another person. A household must notify Tracfone within thirty (30) days if they no longer qualify for the benefit.

Yes. If your household is approved for the ACP discount, you can keep your current device (smartphone, hotspot or tablet) and your current phone number by contacting Tracfone at 1-800-867-7183 and an agent will be happy to help you. Just call from a different phone and have your account number and password handy

Yes. You can change your number and still retain the ACP discount. There are processes in place to verify if a phone number changes. Tracfone will need to associate your new phone number with your ACP discount, which may delay application of the ACP discount to your new phone number for a brief period.

The Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP) discount will stay in place until federal government funds allocated for the program are depleted and not renewed, conditions of your eligibility change, or your service with Tracfone ends. The ACP discount will be removed from your account if and when the Affordable Connectivity Program ends, and your rate plan will continue at full price. If you changed rate plans to take advantage of the ACP discount, you will not be placed back on the original plan.

Under FCC rules, you must use your Tracfone service at least once every 30 days to keep your account active. Usage means placing or receiving a call, sending a text, or using your mobile data (not on a Wi-Fi network). If no activity is registered on your account after 30 days, you will enter a 15-day cure period before the Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP) discount is removed and you are de-enrolled from the Affordable Connectivity Program. If your ACP discount is removed due to inactivity, you may reapply at any time.

Yes. Current Tracfone customers may apply to see if their household qualifies for the ACP discount by clicking HERE. If their household qualifies, then they may call Tracfone at 1-800-867-7183 to speak to an agent and apply for the ACP discount. The discount may be applied to an existing Tracfone monthly plan at any time during the duration of the program. All our monthly data plans are eligible for ACP discount.

Yes. The Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP) is a separate program from the Lifeline Program. If your household qualifies for both programs, you can apply and receive both benefits on either the same service or on different services. You may also receive your Lifeline and ACP benefits from different providers. You are not required to enroll in one program to receive the other.

TracFone Wireless, Inc. offers plans under its brands that can be supported by Lifeline, the Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP), or both. Lifeline is a government benefit program. Only eligible consumers may enroll in Lifeline. ACP is a government benefit program operated by the Federal Communications Commission. Households may be eligible for ACP if they are qualified for Lifeline, free or reduced-price school lunches or breakfasts, Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children (WIC), a Pell Grant, or have income less than or equal to 200% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines. Lifeline and ACP supported services are non-transferable and limited to one per household.

When you enroll in ACP or Lifeline with us, you consent to our sharing your information with the Universal Service Administrative Company to ensure the proper administration of these programs. You authorize us to communicate any information provided to us to the Universal Service Administrative Company for the purpose of providing the Lifeline and/or ACP Benefit to you. If you currently receive ACP or Lifeline from another provider and you enroll in those programs with us, your other ACP and/or Lifeline benefit with the other provider will be terminated. You are not required to enroll in ACP to enroll in Lifeline or to enroll in Lifeline to enroll in ACP. You may choose to enroll with us in ACP, Lifeline, or both or you may choose another provider for either or both government discounts.
